Capital Works Grants (Sporting Clubs) 2020-2021

The Major Capital Works Grant is to support incorporated not-for-profit organisation/associations (sporting clubs) to plan and implement projects to develop, modify, upgrade, or extend sporting, recreation and community facilities.

The Minor Capital Works Grant contributes to minor capital works projects carried out on Council owned property. The purpose is to support sporting clubs to undertake timely development and upgrading of infrastructure, with the aim to increase community participation in sport and recreation.

Who can apply?

The Capital Works Grants will only be available to incorporated and not-for-profit sport or recreation clubs that are:

  • Are based or operating within the City of Cockburn
  • Under lease or seasonal license on Council owned property
  • Servicing a significant number of local residents.

What can I apply for?

Capital Works Grants can be used for a range of purposes including:

  • Provision of lighting project
  • Canteen/Kitchen upgrades
  • Change room fit outs and upgrades
  • Pitches, Fields, Court upgrades
  • Fencing
  • Development of Plans
  • Storage
  • Equipment
  • Air conditioning
  • Electronic and Security systems
  • Shade structures

The project or activity must:

  • Be of benefit to the local community and/or the City of Cockburn generally.
  • Meet an identified need.
  • Not require commitment to ongoing funding from the City.
  • Not duplicate an activity already available in the local area.

How much can I apply for?

The maximum grant available through the Major Capital Works Grant is $50,000 per project. Clubs may only apply for the Major Capital Works Grant once every three years.

The maximum amount for Minor Capital Works funding is $4,000 per project. Clubs may only apply for the Minor Capital Works Grant once per financial year

Please note that the City’s contribution towards major and minor capital works projects will not exceed 50 per cent of the total project cost. It is important to note that contributions of voluntary labour and donated materials (in-kind contributions) can be recognised as a component of an applicant’s contribution towards projects in this category. 

 

As the funding pool is limited, applications that demonstrate the best value for money will be prioritised, and priority will also be given to applicants who have not previously been funded.

 

When can I apply?

Applications are open all year round and broken into rounds purely to align with funds being distributed in each financial year. Applicants are required to contact Recreation Services staff to discuss the proposed project prior to completing this application.

 

Projects must not commence within a month of the application being submitted, as funding cannot be awarded retrospectively.

 

Limitations and Conditions

  • The successful request for a Capital Works Grant in any year does not imply any ongoing commitment of the same or similar contribution in following years.
  • Applicants must be based in the City of Cockburn or serve the Cockburn community
  • There is a financial contribution of at least 50% or more to the project or activity.
  • Funding will not be provided:
    • Retrospectively for any projects that have already occurred, or due to occur within a month of the application’s lodgment.
    • For any activity or event that will be divisive in communities by denigrating, excluding, or offending community groups.
    • If your activity that may present a hazard to the community or environment.
    • If you have not acquitted any previous City of Cockburn funding.
    • For projects not on land controlled or managed by the City of Cockburn

NAVIGATING (MOVING THROUGH) THE APPLICATION FORM

On every screen (page of the form) you will find a Form Navigation contents box, this links directly to every page of the application. Click the link to jump directly to the page you want.

You can also click 'next page' or 'previous page' on the top or bottom of each page to move forward or backward through the application.

SAVING YOUR DRAFT APPLICATION

If you wish to leave a partially completed application, press 'save and close' and log out. When you log back in and click on the 'My Submissions' link at the top of the screen, you will find a list of any applications you have started or submitted. You can reopen your draft application and start where you left off.

You can also download any application, whether draft or completed, as a PDF. Click on the 'Download PDF' button located at the bottom of the last page of the application form.

SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

You will find a Review and Submit button at the bottom of the Navigation Panel. You need to review your application before you can submit it.

Once you have reviewed your application you can submit it by clicking on 'Submit' at the top or bottom of the screen or on the navigation panel. You will not be able to submit your application until all the compulsory questions are completed and there are no validation errors.

Once you have submitted your application, no further editing or uploading of support materials is possible.

When you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email with a copy of your submitted application attached. This will be sent to the email you used to register.

If you do not receive a confirmation of submission email then you should presume that your submission has NOT been submitted.

Hint: also check the email hasn’t landed in your spam or junk email folder.

ATTACHMENTS AND SUPPORT DOCUMENTS

You may need to upload/submit attachments to support your application. This is very simple, but requires you to have the documents saved on your computer, or on a storage device.

You need to allow enough time for each file to upload before trying to attach another file. Files can be up to 25MB each; however, we do recommend trying to keep files to a maximum of 5MB – the larger the file, the longer the upload time.

COMPLETING AN APPLICATION IN A GROUP/TEAM

A number of people can work on an application using the same log in details as long as only one person is working at a time. Ensure you save as you go.

SPELL CHECK
